We are committed to celebrating people by allowing equal access to Midwest Charity Trials. We strive to do this by keeping ‘Diversity, Equity & Inclusion’ in the forefront of all we do to create a culture that embraces, empowers and allows all to feel safe. We do not underestimate our impact as an organization to give voice, leadership and opportunity to all by reducing bias and removing barriers. We are dedicated to creating a more inclusive world that celebrates humans, and this starts from within our organization!
Our Commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Diversity
We promote specific populations of people with the intention to diversify representation in participants, volunteers and leadership roles. Diversity is at the heart of all communities, especially at MCT.
Equity
We create fair opportunities and competitions by ensuring resources are provided to meet the unique needs of every individual. Equity is central to fostering success for all participants, volunteers, and leaders.
Inclusion
We cultivate an environment where every individual feels valued, respected, and empowered to thrive. Inclusion drives our mission to create spaces where all voices are heard, and everyone belongs.
Our Ongoing Work
The Johnston Alliance is a scholarship program dedicated to empowering and celebrating individuals. This Scholarship is dedicated to empowering individuals from underprivileged communities and diverse backgrounds by reducing financial barriers to participation in the Midwest Charity Trials events. This scholarship can support individuals in a variety of ways that includes but is not limited to, supporting fundraising efforts, covering event fees, and assisting with travel and lodging costs. Our goal is to create a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment where everyone has the opportunity to participate, thrive, and be celebrated. Together we are building a community that embraces diversity, fosters equity, and promotes inclusion at every level. This event is primarily a celebration of creativity and fundraising, but we also recognize the importance of equal access and opportunity. Not everyone has the same resources to fundraise, and while we encourage participants to think creatively, we’ve established this scholarship to help offset financial barriers to participation of our events.
If you’re ready to take on the challenge of creatively fundraising to support a charity close to your heart but need assistance with the entry fee, travel and lodging costs, or fundraising barriers, we encourage you to apply for the Johnston Alliance Scholarship.

“When I was first asked to co-host this event, I felt truly honored, especially because Asian American women are rarely cast to play these competitions, let alone invited to take on a hosting role. Being asked to be such a visible part of this event was a personal celebration for me but also highlights how much MCT values and prioritizes representation!”

Testimonials
“Something that I loved about Midwest Charity Trials is that I felt respected on so many levels that a lot of organizations don’t offer the same grace for. It didn’t matter that I was a woman, a person of color, or even not local to the state of Minnesota, everyone I played with, and the leadership was so welcoming and inviting. I am very excited to do more with MCT in the future!”

“When I was confirmed to be playing in an Midwest Charity Trials fundraiser, I was nursing my baby. Midwest Charity Trials was willing to accommodate my needing to eat and take breaks to pump. It’s comforting to know that exceptions will be made for people who have special medical needs and leads to more, different people being able to participate in future events.”

“I was really excited, and somewhat nervous to play, having always felt somewhat of an outsider. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, and as a person that works in an inclusive queer space, I definitely had a lot of anxiousness building up to the game. But the moment I reached the event location and began to meet the volunteers and fellow contestants I felt a great level of connection and an all-embracing mindset overtake any nerves I had.
